The RCS Personal Portable Radio Kit from 1959 |
From the December 1959 issue of Radio Constructor. This is the RCS Acorn Valve Portable that was advertised in that magazine (RCS was the company that marketed the kit). It uses the 954 Acorn valve but wired as a triode. Two versions are given with the 2 valve version having an extra stage of amplification. 954 valves are still availiable today but the holders are rather more difficult to obtain.
However it is not to difficult to make a mechanical connection to the valve pins and with an HT requirement of only 30 volts would make an interesting project.
