Wireless Trader Advertisements

The following advertisements appeared in a magazine for the Wireless Retail Trade in the UK. As well as advertisments for Radios,Batteries,Televisions and other Electrical equipment were featured.Of particular interest is the Oldhams battery advert about 'Old Tom' a Railway Porter on a little used branch line entitled 'Two Trains a Day'. About how Tom relies on batteries for his radio as there is no mains supply. Little did the copy writers know that within a few years Dr Beeching would solve the problem by closing such branch lines as well as a large chunk of the UK railway system. Some show the retail price and the conversion rate today is about £15.70 to each old pound.
